Teen Gothic

I pre-ordered Twin Tribes's Pendulum in the pink and black color, and it came in looking purple and cloudy, and the edges were blunt and sharp with strings of vinyl coming off. Most of my records are smooth and tapered at the ends. Did anyone else have this issue? I'm hesitant to buy another Twin Tribes record in the future because in the past I had a record come in with the sleeve torn and grease stains on the record itself. Am I an outlier?

Not looking for anything specific, just anything u think sounds good! Ive been taking more of a liking to Russian goth songs and was wondering if anyone knew of some good Polish ones too :⁾

I go through this sometimes. I listen to the music, participate in everything that’s with the subculture/community, etc. I usually get called a poser at school because I listen to J-goth and other random reasons. but I listen to all the goth classics. Sometimes I think these things happen more often ever since the term “tik tok goth police” became a thing. Just a random thought. What are your thoughts and comments about this? (Hopefully this entire thing I type doesn’t confuse anyone I barely post on here)

My mother was pretty damn goth when I was growing up, and she still is. When I was young, I remember I had an iPod touch chock full of bands like Switchblade Symphony, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Angelspit, Nox Arcana, London After Midnight, and a bunch of other gothic rock, dark cabaret, darkwave, industrial bands and songs, and some from other genres that make up the subculture. When I was getting to be the same size as her between, like, 5th and 6th grade, we'd share a bunch of clothes, I also remember being really happy to wear her super nice black lace skirt to school or one of her many many sick graphic t-shirts. Plus I loved her jewelry, lots of snakes and skulls and the like that I thought was so cool. Gothic movies and books and a bunch of macabre artwork she made and bought also was around the house when I was a kid. Just… Everything, I guess!

Ended up distancing myself from the subculture as a teenager, as teenagers will do, but in my 20s I feel drawn back to it a bit. Honestly makes me really nostalgic, the music and the fashion and the pop culture and really everything! I was wondering if anybody else also grew up in it, just out of curiosity 🙂

Romanticism and sexuality seem fairly common within the goth subculture (whether of the music, band performances, conversations, fans, etc), and it can become too much and hard to avoid, like a lot of the content in mainstream media. It's somewhat alienating. It's as though indifference or adversity to such is quite rare, but curious if there are otherwise. If so, what are those thoughts on romantic and sexual matters in any aspect of the subculture?

I know it’s a single by Siouxsie, but she sings in german. The tilte is ‘mittageisen’ (on the back it says metal postcard. Does anyone know why this single is in german?
